Partial Dentures
If gaps in your smile are impacting your ability to chew and speak, partial dentures may be the right restorative treatment for you. These devices (artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored base) are held in place with small metal clasps or dental implants.
Dr. Victor Siegel in Rockville, MD, has more than 30 years of professional dental experience and offers the restorative treatment at his , clinic. Once your new partial denture has been placed, you can enjoy restored oral function and a more attractive smile.
Benefits of Partial Dentures
Patients who receive partial dentures at our Rockville clinic can experience:
- Improved bite balance: Missing teeth can cause sufferers to overuse the healthier side of their bite. This can cause premature wear and other problems. Once your partial denture has been placed, you can enjoy restored oral function and improved bite balance.
- Clearer speech: Many people do not realize the important role teeth play in speech function. Many sounds require the tongue to come into contact with the teeth. By restoring missing teeth, you may notice that speech becomes easier and more clear.
- Prevention of misalignment: Gaps in your smile allow adjacent teeth to slowly shift out of place. Over time, this can seriously impact the appearance of your smile. Partial dentures that are held in place with metal clasps or by dental implants can keep surrounding teeth in their proper places.
- Improved self-esteem: With a partial denture in place, you no longer have to feel self-conscious about the look of your smile. Dr. Siegel can provide a partial denture that looks entirely natural.
Partial dentures are customized to achieve a precise fit within your smile.
Am I a Candidate?
Individuals who are missing multiple teeth in more than one area are likely candidates for partial dentures at our Rockville dental office. Patients who are only missing one tooth may benefit from a dental implant-supported crown or bridge.
Patients who wish to have implant-supported partial dentures must have adequate jawbone density to support the implant posts. If you do not have enough jawbone tissue, a bone graft can restore candidacy for this procedure.
If gaps in your smile are impacting your ability to chew and speak, partial dentures may be the right restorative treatment for you.
A Look at the Procedure
During your visit to our clinic, Dr. Siegel will take impressions of your teeth. This information will be used by a trusted laboratory to manufacture your partial denture. If you are receiving removable partial dentures, you may be able to have your device placed in as few as two to four weeks.
If you are receiving implant-supported partial dentures, your timeline will be considerably longer. After the placement of your dental implants, it can take three to six months to heal. Once your implants have completely fused to the bone tissue, Dr. Siegel can attach your partial denture.
