New Patient Experience
Something that separates us from most other dental practices is the new patient experience. Most people expect that their first visit at a new dental office will be with the dental hygienist getting their teeth "cleaned" and maybe they'll have a five to ten minute face-to-face meeting with the dentist. Not so at our Bethesda, Potomac and Rockville area dental office! Would you expect to walk into a general surgeon's office and have the doctor begin a procedure on you without doing a thorough exam and becoming completely familiar with your condition? Of course not! The first appointment for new patients at the office of Dr. Victor R. Siegel is a one hour comprehensive examination with Dr. Siegel himself.. You'll notice that the first five to ten minutes of the visit involves Dr. Siegel listening to and addressing your concerns and getting to know you. This is followed by a thorough oral examination which involves looking not only at the teeth, but also the periodontal tissues (gums) and other surrounding soft tissues of the mouth. In addition, the way your upper and lower teeth come together and function against each other will be evaluated, along with the muscles associated with moving the lower jaw. Finally, an enhanced oral cancer screening will be performed involving the use of a device called Vizilite, a means of using a focused wavelength of light to highlight small but suspicious lesions that may otherwise go unnoticed. All of this information is recorded in digital format on our computer system along with digital x-rays and photographs. So why so thorough? It is only through this process that Dr. Siegel can become thoroughly familiar with your oral condition and make treatment recommendations that make sense for you.
