For a dramatic cosmetic enhancement to your smile, there is perhaps no better treatment than porcelain veneers. At our practice serving Bethesda, Potomac, and the surrounding areas, we can use custom-made porcelain veneers to correct chipped, stained, misaligned, or otherwise unsatisfactory teeth. The procedure is quick, painless, and results in the kind of smiles we often see in the movies and in magazines. When you hear the term "smile makeover," it is likely that porcelain veneers have played a part.
During your first appointment, we will discuss, in detail, your expectations and desires for your teeth, and select a style of porcelain veneers to match those desires – right down to the shape, color, and translucency. We will also take impressions of your teeth to ensure that the porcelain veneers fit perfectly. Over the next several weeks, a highly-qualified ceramicist will prepare the porcelain veneers according to your exact specifications. While your permanent veneers are being made, you can wear a set of temporary composite veneers during this time, as well.
When your veneers are ready for you, you will return to our Bethesda-area office, and we will check each of your porcelain veneers for color and fit. If they meet your expectations and desires, we will then bond them to the teeth, resulting in a beautiful smile makeover.
LUMINEERS® by CERINATE® are an exciting development in cosmetic dentistry technology. Conventional porcelain veneers require the removal of a significant amount of tooth structure to accommodate the veneers. Razor-thin LUMINEERS®, made with the strength of patented CERINATE® porcelain, don’t require any tooth removal, anesthetic injections, or drilling of your existing teeth.
During your first appointment, we will take an impression of your teeth without removing any tooth structure. The impression will be sent to the CERINATE® Smile Design Studios, where your porcelain veneers will be created specifically to meet your individual needs. You will return to our office when your LUMINEERS® are ready to be placed. After lightly buffing the surface of your teeth, we will apply your new LUMINEERS® and bond them using a special curing light. LUMINEERS® are permanent; unlike conventional porcelain veneers, however, the treatment is reversible because the original tooth structure is still intact. Also, because the tooth structure is still whole and protecting the tooth roots and nerves, there is less pain after the procedure.
We are proud to announce that our Rockville office offers the Zoom® teeth whitening system, an exciting innovation in professional teeth whitening treatments. Zoom® differs from traditional teeth whitening methods in many ways. Unlike other techniques, Zoom® utilizes a unique formula of hydrogen peroxide gel, activated by a blue light technology. The light and the gel work together to quickly break up stains caused by food, wine, coffee, tea, or tobacco. The entire Zoom® teeth whitening procedure only takes about one hour and can brighten your smile by as many as 10 shades!
At our Rockville office, we begin the teeth whitening process by covering the sensitive tissues in your mouth, such as the gums and lips. Next, one of our dental professionals will apply the Zoom® teeth whitening gel to your teeth, then activate the gel over the course of three 15-minute sessions under the Zoom® lamp. During this time, you can relax and enjoy your favorite CD, watch television, or just doze. After your teeth whitening, we will treat your teeth with fluoride to protect them from cavities. You may also choose to take an at-home whitening kit with you to touch up your teeth as you wish. With this kit, and frequent cleanings, your smile will remain white and beautiful for many years to come.
Porcelain crowns are an excellent method of restoring broken, damaged, or severely chipped teeth that compromise the function of your bite. In the past, porcelain crowns were made out of metal and coated with porcelain. Unfortunately, as the metal base becomes exposed over time, an unsightly dark line grows visible at the base of the tooth. At our Rockville office, serving Potomac, Gaithersburg, and Bethesda, Maryland, our advanced porcelain crowns are made exclusively of durable, all-ceramic materials.
Unlike the metal-based crowns of the past, our porcelain restorations are beautiful and nearly undetectable, yet still maintain the strength of metal-based crowns. As an advanced dental practice, we can create your porcelain crowns in just one appointment using CEREC® technology. Unlike other practices that may take two or more appointments to design and craft your dental crowns, we will have your crowns ready the same day. Dr. Victor Siegel also offers sedation dentistry if you have anxiety about undergoing dental treatments.
CEREC® is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. The CEREC® restorative system allows our Bethesda-area cosmetic dentist to restore damaged teeth with porcelain crowns, inlays or onlays in just one appointment. Our superior-quality ceramic material can be matched to both the color and translucency of the surrounding teeth.
CEREC® employs CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology; it combines a computer, camera, and milling machine into a single instrument. First, the camera takes a precise picture of the damaged tooth. The photograph – or optical impression – is then transmitted to a computer screen, where Dr. Siegel uses CAD technology to design porcelain crowns, inlays, and onlays. Once the design is prepared, CAM technology steps in and creates the restoration. Lastly, Dr. Siegel bonds the new restoration to the surface of the tooth. The entire process is completed in just one visit!
Invisalign® invisible braces straighten the teeth with a series of clear aligners. The removable aligners are changed every two weeks or so, straightening the teeth by small increments. The plastic aligners can be removed during mealtimes and when you brush your teeth. Treatment with Invisalign® invisible braces will take approximately one year, with adjustments made by Dr. Siegel every six to eight weeks. At the end of the course of treatment, your teeth will be noticeably straighter and your smile more beautiful. Many of our Rockville patients also choose to undergo teeth whitening after Invisalign® to help achieve an even more dramatic enhancement.
Dental implants are a relatively new, exciting advancement in the world of dentistry. Dental implants can be the perfect solution if you have good oral health, but are missing one or more teeth. Because dental implants do not rely on surrounding teeth for support, they cause less oral stress than traditional dental bridges. At our Rockville office near Bethesda, we can restore your dental implants by attaching customized porcelain crowns, dentures, or a bridge to the titanium implants. Your newly restored teeth will look and feel natural, and with the proper dental maintenance, can last for a lifetime.
Cosmetic bonding uses composite resin to fill and repair chips, gaps, spots, or discolorations in teeth. The bonding material will be matched to your tooth so that it is undetected when you smile. Cosmetic bonding is usually completed in one visit to our Rockville office near Bethesda. Much like porcelain veneers, the tooth to be bonded must first be roughened slightly, so that the bonding material will adhere to it. The composite resin is then applied to the tooth; several layers are sometimes required in order to duplicate the depth of color in the surrounding tooth. Lastly, the bonding material is hardened by a high-intensity light.
With an experienced, skilled dentist like Dr. Siegel, the bonded area will exactly mimic the color and translucency of your natural tooth. To see some of the beautiful results of composite bonding, visit our cosmetic dentistry smile gallery.
